Eugène Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc designed a set of six candle-stands of this model for the high altar of Notre Dame Cathedral in December 1865. This set remains in the collection of Notre Dame Cathedral.
A further example lacking a pricket spike, was exhibited by Poussielgue-Rusand at the 1867 Paris Exhibition.
The Saint-François-Xavier College Chapel was built in 1873 to the designs of the amateur architect and Jesuit Father, Magloire Tournesac (1805-1875). Presumably this candle-stand was also once part of a set of six for the altar, as per the original set at Notre Dame.
